  Magazines are everywhere in society, from supermarkets to sidewalks. I’ve seen countless copies of various magazines throughout my life, but I’ve never noticed the details of each one until now, when I was specifically looking for them.    One magazine that especially stood out to me was the Rolling Stone magazine.  The entire cover is dedicated to the Black Lives Matter protests around the country and the political turmoil that surrounds it. A politically vocal singer, Lil Baby, is featured on the cover. He’s standing on  a wall in front of a background made up of the burnt remains from a protest. The wall reads “Black P owe r ”,   and the cover is very much a political statement. Text blurbs surrounding the image suggest protest songs, call Donald  Trump out for his  failures, and introduces Lil Baby as “the sound of the rebellion”.  Another magazine that accomplishes this is GQ Magazine, which features Travis Scott and talks about “ rage...

  Throughout watching the movie clips in class, I noticed many small details that I wouldn’t have noticed if I wasn’t looking out for them. Even in movies like the Lion King, which I’ve watched a multitude of times before,  I noticed specific aspects that I hadn’t before.   One clip that stood out to me, in particular, was the clip of the intro of the movie Scream.  Being a horror movie, its goal is to build suspense and scare the audience when they aren’t expecting it. Scream began with a normal-looking scene: a woman in her home making popcorn at night. However, she got a phone call from a stranger and it became apparent that she w as being stalked by this man. The suspense in the clip built as it went on, starting with the woman smiling and laughing and then documenting her increasing worry as she became less comfortable with the situation  and by  the end, was scream ing (as the movie title proclaims) and  trying to call the police.  This acco...
